I was planning to switch from my OEM 500 watt PSU to a 700 watt model for my GeForce 4070, but I'm uncertain if the increase in power actually matters since both have the same amperage. My current setup with the 500 watt is functioning perfectly. Here are the specifications for the HP OEM 700 watt Platinum PSU as shown on the label:

700 watt maximum power
+12.1 Vmain =18A
+12.1Vcpu1 = 18A
+12.1VCPU2 =18A
+12.1VG1=18A
+12.1VG2= 18A
All parameters remain consistent with the 500 watt model, except for the listed maximum power and voltage caps.

Is this upgrade justified? I’m not experiencing any issues with my current 500 watt unit. The recommendation is to increase wattage for better performance, especially since I have a 65 watt TDP CPU (12400) and a case fan.

These 15L computers only support HP PSUs. Both models feature an 8-pin connector (2+6), which is needed to connect the video card with the adapter provided by NVIDIA.

Since the amps remain unchanged, it doesn't necessarily indicate that the 700-watt PSU is inferior to the 500-watt one.
