I just wanted to gather some perspectives on this issue since I haven’t found a recent discussion specifically about it and I’ve noticed differing opinions on the subject.
Some argue that using Prime95 could harm your CPU because it’s an "unrealistic" workload that uses AVX at a level processors aren’t built for. Others claim that if the CPU gets damaged, it points to hardware issues rather than software problems. Still, others believe it’s safe as long as you don’t run it for extended periods or if you’re not overclocking or altering voltages.
So, does running Prime95 for stress testing pose a risk to your CPU, or is there more to it? Should the main concern be the CPU temperature, or are there other factors at play?
I tested Prime95 for about eight and a half hours, performing various operations like small FFTs, large FFTs, and blend tests. Throughout this time, the CPU stayed below 75°C according to CoreTemp. If that’s the case, could it be that my CPU was never damaged or experienced a noticeable reduction in lifespan?

Some individuals express numerous opinions. However, this does not affect the CPU, provided proper cooling is in place.

Back in the day, such intense conditions might harm or ruin a CPU. Today, modern CPUs have numerous safeguards in place to avoid this.

Thank you for your response. Here is a rewritten version of the text maintaining the same length and structure:

So is this not accurate, then?

Running at full capacity continuously will eventually damage the processor and/or motherboard. As long as you don't overdo CPU speed or GPU adjustments, you should be fine.

None of the terms he chose indicated harm. The CPU might freeze or hang, affecting stability negatively, while the other issue refers to extremely high temperatures that prevent further action.
