Question About Power Supply and Cable Compatibility for Strix 4090 OCP with Sonic TX 1600 and 12vhpwr Cable
Question About Power Supply and Cable Compatibility for Strix 4090 OCP with Sonic TX 1600 and 12vhpwr Cable
Hi, I am expecting the Seasonic TX 1600 power supply to run a 13900K and Strix 4090 OC.
I found out that the 12vhpwr cable can provide around 450w even if the label says 600w, especially when the connectors are grounded and the GPU thinks it is getting more power than it actually does.
This might lead to problems with my GPU's performance.
When will it reach its maximum capacity?
Could you confirm whether the 12vhpwr cable remains efficient for my Strix 4090 OC even at full settings?
Your advice would be greatly appreciated, and I really hope I made the right choice.
Thank you very much and look forward to your reply.
Running 4090 on that psu should work, but if you need the full compatibility it's the incorrect psu.
The Seasonic TX 1600 would handle a 4090 perfectly without any issues. It actually comes with two 12VHPWR cables! While PS might seem excessive for a typical build, your 13900K and Strix 4090 OC are quite power-hungry parts. Seasonic has a strong reputation for quality and reliability, and the 12-year warranty reflects their confidence in this model's durability.
