Question about overclocking
Question about overclocking
Sorry if this has been asked before, the impact of an OC on my CPU with 4.4GHz is unclear. I mainly play games that are CPU-heavy. My current configuration includes an i7 3770K at 3.5GHz with a stock cooler, two HyperX 8GB DDR3 modules at 1600MHz, and a GTX 970 ASUS STRIX. I’m new to overclocking, so I’m wondering if it’s worth investing in a better cooler and making adjustments. Should I consider raising the voltage? Any advice would be appreciated.
Your current processor can easily surpass Haswell performance limits, which is why overclocking offers benefits. You'll need to adjust your Vcore slightly, but Ivy Bridge models handle overclocking effectively, providing marginally improved FPS across all games. For successful overclocking, a superior cooler is necessary; standard cooling isn't sufficient.
