Keyboard enthusiasts, or just regular forum members, I’m hoping someone can assist. My four-year-old basic Lenovo rubber dome wired keyboard has worn off the letters, and I’m thinking about swapping it for a wired mechanical model. It will be used with a desktop PC running Windows 10. I’ve done some initial research and would appreciate some guidance and suggestions.

Things to consider:
I don’t type extensively—just documents, spreadsheets, and emails. No gaming involved.
The keyboard has adjustable, subtle white backlighting and a black design. I don’t want flashy patterns or colors.
I prefer minimal light spill around the keys.
Keystrokes should be quiet. The current keyboard is a bit too loud.
The force needed to press keys isn’t excessive.
I’d like a number pad integrated into the keyboard.
Value matters more than price; I’m open to higher-end options but not overspending.
Volume control is nice but not essential.
I’m seeking advice on specific wired keyboards and what I like about them. Regarding switches, online reviews suggest Cherry and Gateron are popular, but I’m unsure if there are other good choices to consider and why.
Additionally, I’m curious about the feel of a bump—like in Cherry MX Brown. How does this compare to a rubber dome keyboard? How does it stack up against a linear switch without a bump, especially for typing? Are there switches with less noticeable bumps?

Thank you.

In my opinion, it's not fair to compare a rubber domed keyboard with a mechanical keyboard or switch. It's similar to comparing an apple to an orange. While tactile, non-clicky switches are important, some users also enjoy typing with linear switches. You didn't mention your budget or a specific place to buy it. You might want to consider a customizable hotswappable keyboard that you can modify over time.
