Those visuals are concerning because they could damage your ARGB controller either by overheating it or by causing long-term harm. Don't worry, it doesn't mean you should buy another motherboard. The only situation where the harness would melt is if you applied excessive voltage and left one end ungrounded.

Second, the header you mentioned on the motherboard doesn't align with what's shown in the manual. It would be helpful to photograph the header and share it in your Imgur album for reference.

Third, the red circle you identified is the part of the motherboard connected by the cable you believe came with the case. I've used a different cable in the LanCool II Mesh; it wasn't included with the case or the board. The harness is meant to supply power to a device, and the ARGB header on the motherboard can output +5V for your ARGB device. This means you were feeding power into a connector that shouldn't receive it. In either scenario, the additional power from the ARGB hub comes from a SATA input, while the signal travels through the ARGB header on the board. You should have connected the 3-pin ARGB cable to the motherboard. The label is incorrect for this product—it's an ARGB case/connector, not RGB. These are different standards and can't be used interchangeably. Checking page 8 of the manual will clarify that you used the wrong harness for the incorrect header.

Sorry, I was a bit stressed and panicking when I was typing, so it didn’t come out very clearly. I just wanted to type it before going to bed in case I had answers already. I connected one section of the cable in the picture to the PSU (I’m sure it was the SATA cable) and then plugged the small connection part into the motherboard—the red circle in the picture is where I did that. After hours of confusion, I thought I finally figured it out, especially since the motherboard fit perfectly and there were no other cables visible. When I turned on the computer, only that very thin wire connecting to the motherboard sizzled itself instantly, and I shut off the PSU power as quickly as possible.

My computer and PSU didn’t experience any shorts, and it ran normally until I turned off the PSU, which took about 3-4 seconds after the sizzling stopped.

When you mentioned possibly damaging my ARGB controller or the board itself, are you talking about my motherboard? Or what exactly do you mean?

The part of the motherboard I connected it to had no visible damage, and the SATA cable that got fried didn’t affect anything at all. Why would this be? Does this mean the cable is fine and everything else on my computer is okay too?

Edit - I think the cable might have come with my 212 Hyper Black RGB board. I don’t remember. I added a picture of what was originally attached to that small part of the cable that got fried, which I realized could be removed from this push button area. This might help you identify its source.

LED_DEMO enables adding RGB power without a PSU. This suggests it might draw 12V from another source. If it functions properly, it’s unlikely the board was damaged.

Let him explain, it wasn't obvious from the initial pictures that the motherboard connectors you mentioned were intended solely for sales or show purposes.

I captured better close-up shots of the motherboard header after plugging it in, and a picture of the case to demonstrate that the front RGB remains functional even though the cable for that connection was connected to the same PSU cable that failed. However, as I mentioned before, every other wire—including those not directly attached—is looking perfectly fine. It seems the only damaged component was that specific wire, so it’s probably safe to leave the PSU cable attached to the sizzled wire, since it appears intact and operational.

I connected it to the LED demo, which displayed the correct shape and everything fit snugly. The appearance matched the manual for the case and the motherboard, confirming that this was the only relevant connection I could identify. I’m unsure about the cable configuration or hub reference, but I already have a cable from the top of my case to the motherboard, which seems to be in the addressable header area.

Could you provide guidance on what cables to use now?

Hey, take a deep breath - if everything's booting up fine and there's no other visible damage besides that one burnt cable, you're probably okay! Sounds like you just had the wrong cable in the wrong header (maybe 12V in a 5V RGB header?) which fried that cable but your mobo's protection circuits likely did their job. I'd just bin that burnt cable, double-check your RGB setup with the manual, and keep an eye on temps for the next few days - but if it's running normally now you should be alright mate!
