Hello, I bought a used 240hz monitor from LG ultragear, model LG 27GN750-B. It works well for my desktop and browsing. I’ve been playing Valorant, and at first everything was fine at 1440 x 1080 (4:3) with 240hz. Both with and without freesync, using the monitor’s OSD, GPU scaling was enabled in AMD control panel, and scaling mode was set to preserve aspect ratio.

Recently, I switched the material quality in the game to high, which caused frequent screen flickering—sometimes the screen would go black for a long time before returning. This happened during agent selection or mid-game, especially in fast-paced matches, making it quite bothersome. I think this is due to the changes in settings and the resulting drop in FPS.

Before that, I didn’t consistently play at 240fps, and there were no major issues except during agent selection, which was rare in single-player or Fortnite. Now, when using the adapter display on Windows with GPU scaling off and freesync disabled, it’s working better. I only noticed a brief blackout once, but overall it’s stable.

Details: i7-7700 / 16GB RAM, XFXX RX580 8GB, OS and Valorant on M.2 SSD, ADRENALIN version 22.9.2 (planned update to 22.10.1), connected via HDMI cable.

You can attempt using an alternative, well-known monitor to test. If the problem persists, the issue likely lies with your PC. Conversely, if the problem disappears, it probably points to your monitor.

Additionally: purchasing used items means accepting them in their current condition, including any defects. Since sellers often list "as is," you may end up facing the same problems unless you pay a premium for higher-quality products.

If you prefer to avoid these potential complications, opt for brand new equipment instead.
