Question about "Kernel Data Inpage Error" BSOD during gaming.
Sorry for the slow response. The issue in the recent KEREL_DATA_INPAGE_ERROR bugcheck was 0xC000000E, suggesting a pagefile corruption or a drive problem on the system drive.
The recommended action is to remove the pagefile and restart, then set up a new one. This should fix any related errors.
Open the Run dialog by typing sysdm.cpl, this will launch System Properties.
Go to the Advanced tab, click the top Settings button, then Advanced, and select Virtual Memory Change.
Ensure the No paging File option is checked and click OK.
Restart the system.
After rebooting, enter the command sysdm.cpl in the Run box and follow the same steps to verify the fix.
Will continue in the future. Sorry, I wasn’t sure it would bother me to do that, just hoping those parts would be useful. I’ll steer clear of creating too many threads. Appreciate the response.
I haven’t experienced a BSOD yet, but my more demanding games crash in Steam, and after they stop, Steam appears to lose track of any games I have installed. Downloads stop and display “disk write error,” and if I manage to start games afterward, it reports that the path is invalid or missing. These issues occur with games on my M.2 SSD.
It looks like you ordered a replacement and checked both your C drive and S drive using the pagefile test. You're considering moving everything to a new drive since your OS is on the C drive, which makes you worried about that one. Also, the S drive is an M.2 device—do you have any advice before replacing it?
The pagefile must reside solely on the C: drive. Windows permits placement elsewhere, but without it on C: the dumps won't be saved. Ideally, you need the pagefile on the fastest drive, which should also be your Windows installation drive! Use Macrium Reflect free or Acronis to capture a snapshot of your C: drive; if replacement is necessary, you can simply restore the image. Flaky M.2 drives occasionally gain improved performance by being removed and reinserted securely.
I changed it and played Dead Space (on that drive) for hours without any problems, maybe that really fixed it. Still, if BSODs keep happening, I can send it to Samsung. If it’s only with games on another drive, then it’s annoying but hopefully it’s okay. Thanks for your help!
