By default, the RAM is preloaded with built-in speeds. XMP or expo settings are mainly for performance tuning. Jedec serves as the standard clock speed.

it wasn't like a laptop would block you from using RAM speeds. but I don't really know much about it—it's all confusing for me. I asked for assistance and didn't get it, so I just tried to figure out the downclocking process myself. I can see what XMP does, though.
