Question about computer desk weight capacity
Question about computer desk weight capacity
sorry if this is the wrong section, but I've been attempting to purchase a computer desk in this setup:
https://www.amazon.com/Linsy-Home-Comput...B0899LXDFV
and I notice the weight capacity shown on the picture for the side shelf where the PC tower is placed is 25lbs. can't this be incorrect? today's PC towers typically weigh between 30-40lbs. are they simply stating 25lbs just to be safe? how do they test this weight capacity? do they place a 25lb dumbbell on it and it breaks? i'm very skeptical about that.
i don't understand why they can't provide accurate real-world weight limits so we can make better decisions.
This note indicates the item is assembled.
The phrase "25 lbs" refers to the weight of the product.
do you people have selective reading? the title mentions a computer desk, but all these desk styles are just for computers. they claim it's suitable for writing, and the shelves can be removed to fit a PC. why bother coming here when it seems like nobody has any real knowledge or experience beyond expensive, overpriced consumer furniture?
they mentioning it can be applied to various tasks doesn't seem overly deceptive. my initial computer desk was a 35" particle board one with likely a 50lb limit, intended for students to study and complete homework. the top was somewhat flexible due to years of heavy CRT monitors. i placed the tower on the floor. these newer desks, despite being budget options, actually offer greater strength thanks to higher grade engineered wood, and reviews confirm their ~200lb top capacity. i'm puzzled as to why the side shelves have such low limits when they share the same metal frame support and wood type. i was curious if others had insights or experience about this issue, perhaps expecting a 25kg rating.
furniture is now mostly available online, so I can't physically test them in stores. places like Best Buy carry limited stock of 30-inch glass computer desks, which means I have to order them online and have them delivered. i prefer to gather all the details before making a purchase. there are other similar desks with 44lb capacity that fit modern PC towers. the only difference is the metal support stuts are positioned at the front and back rather than on the sides of the side shelves. this requires securing the desk with strings or nets to prevent it from falling during an earthquake. i'd rather find the exact model on Amazon.
Would you like to know if they mentioned their particle board folding table could support 400kg (881lbs)? If you prefer durability, consider checking Craigslist for a Tanker Desk. You can fit a 100lb PC in the typewriter storage area. This is what they were suggesting when they advised you to bring one home for safety during emergencies like earthquakes or nuclear threats. Keep in mind that a heavy steel desk weighs about 200lbs, so you'll need a way to transport it.
They might claim any description can drive sales, but there’s no law defining what companies can label a "gaming desk" or "computer desk." Anything you can mount a computer on qualifies as a computer desk. The desks connected here are made from less durable materials like particleboard and smaller screws, with weaker construction. The supports are typically thinner, and the tubes are hollow. The shelf is meant to hold a PC tower, though it shouldn’t be heavily pressed upon.
