Short story, i bought a new MB, switched to amd rather than intel, and now i got some "coil whining" which i simply call angering noisy sh**...
Most of the people say the GPU will cause such noises when playing games with high fps, and yeah it occurs when i play some older games on 300-1000fps, the thing is on intel's platform it didn't happen, same gpu, same ram, same PSU, same everything except the cpu obviously cause of the socket, and the MB.
I got another cpu, same one to test, and same issue, i tried to stress out the CPU in cinebench, both multicore and single core, to check if somehow it's still the CPU, but no noises.
Then i tried to swap the PCI slot on the mb, same issue, the GPU i had for 1 year and i never heard anything like this, so the criminal is obvious to me, it's the MB, aorus master specifically which i ordered few days ago..
I have no plans to play with such noises, especially that it have never happened ever before, not only that but the placeholders for screws are a bit crooked so when i screw to MB to the PC case, i had to spent a ton of time to screw them straight because they were tilting, and at least 1or2 are tilted a bit, i tried to remove them but as well it didn't help(That's on a side note, if i order a MB for that price, i want it go STRAIGHT to my case, not that clearly there's some 1-2mm gap and the wholes are on the side rather than in the center).
Playing high FPS in games is not an excuse, so the question is since people sometimes say these issues with this coil whining are specific to some component models, i was wondering if i should try to replace the MB for the same model, or swap it to some MSI or Asus, AND if perhaps it could be somehow the CPU, during gameplay the cpu load is from 10-20%, so not that much, but i guess since i did all that testing, and swapped for another one it's obvious that it shouldn't be the CPU.

what pcie version were you using previously?
is the bios current?
which motherboard and cpu did you have before?
what psu are you connecting?
based on past experiences, if screws don’t fit, it’s likely a compatibility issue.

It seems this isn't a fault issue, since it worked in both my Intel and AMD systems. The same case I used with my Intel setup (ATX, also using Aorus) and my older AMD system (ATX) fit well. I don’t care much about it now, but the noise is nothing I want to worry about. I tried listening closely to pinpoint the source, but it doesn’t seem to come from the GPU—it’s more like coming from the center, which is hard to identify.

I was using PCIe version 5 on my Intel CPU and possibly PCIe version 4 on my older AMD AM4 board, though it might have been version 5. The BIOS still shows the same settings.

I don’t recall the PSU model, but it was likely a bronze 80+ rated unit around 750W, which I used before with my i9 13900K without any problems. The GPU I got was an RTX 4080, and the i9 should draw more power than the Ryzen 9. Both Intel and AMD series have power management issues that sometimes cause blue screens, but those aren’t the same as the noise I’m hearing now.

It's the GPU... I'm really frustrated with this issue. I recall some sounds, thinking they were coming from the pump in the new liquid cooler I installed (it was for Intel System, now moved to an AMD one). However, I didn't play games on that Intel system where I achieved such high FPS. I mostly used it on the older AMD setup and then switched. Now, when I reach 400-700 FPS, it's not as clear and it might be confused with HDD performance since I had three before and some made noises and vibrations. Suddenly, the Intel system became very loud, which increased the noise from the cooler, even the liquid ones...

The noise also affected the fans and the HDDs, but I didn't notice it much. It blended into a chaotic mix of sounds, and I ignored it because I wasn't paying attention. But after replacing my HDDs with new NVMe drives and getting the AMD 9950X, the situation changed. If configured properly, it runs quietly even under heavy load. The pitch noise is now noticeable, so I plan to undervolt it later and cap some FPS at 700 to ease the issue.

What really bothered me was that the memory I ordered might have been faulty, which would explain the problem. Otherwise, I wouldn't have been as upset, though the noise isn't very impressive. The GPU I received is factory overclocked, possibly causing it to run too hard. In any case, I checked it before deciding to return it and consider it defective.

Now I'm going to keep it because it functions. The screw holes don't match perfectly, but they're still fixable. It might be a small issue with the steel part on the square where USB and other ports are located, possibly due to tiny gaps (0.25-0.5mm). It's a minor problem, though I spent some time trying to diagnose it.
