Question about boosting FX6200 and CPU activity
Question about boosting FX6200 and CPU activity
Hello there, this is my first time posting. I turned off the 5th and 6th cores (core failure before when I overclocked to 4.5ghz in prime95) last night and then re-enabled them. Right after that, I went straight into World of Warcraft and noticed a 15 fps boost while playing. In Dalaran, my FPS jumped from around 35 to over 50 after the change. Now I’m turning those cores back on again, but it seems like my FPS dropped back to around 40 or more. The CPU usage also looks odd. (the image isn’t showing for some reason.)

On 4 threats, it seems the load is more balanced, with core 2 consistently handling the most work.
Anyone has any ideas about what’s happening?
Thanks for your help!
Hello there, this is my first message here.
I turned off the 5th and 6th cores due to a core failure during an overclock to 4.5ghz in prime95 the previous night. After restarting to 4.5ghz without running any stress tests, I immediately played World of Warcraft and noticed a 15 fps boost while playing in Dalaran (35 FPS before and over 50 after).
Now I’m turning those cores back on, and it seems the FPS dropped back to around 40+ FPS in that area.
I also think the CPU usage looks odd. (The image isn’t visible for some reason.)

I also have an FX6300 and am using four cores right now. My CPU scores on PassMark show that, except for one result, using six cores was better. The single-threaded test gave me around 100 more points with four cores versus six.
The single-threaded score on six cores was about 1500, while the four-core version came in at roughly 1600.
Since single-thread performance seems more important for gaming, I’ll stick with four cores going forward.
