What is your budget? Around $500, a bit more or less.
What notebook size are you thinking about? Between 14 and 16 inches, not too heavy.
What resolution would you prefer? I don’t require 4K, but something decent, preferably higher than 1920x1080.
Are you looking for a portable or a desktop replacement laptop?
No need for this.

How long should the battery last? Over 4 hours, ideally more than 6.
Do you want to play games on your laptop? If yes, please list the games and the settings you’d like (Low, Medium, High).
I don’t play computer games.

What other activities do you plan to perform with your laptop? (Photo/video editing, etc.)
Email, YouTube, general browsing, occasional compiling for embedded hardware.

How much storage do you require?
512GB is sufficient.

If you’re thinking of specific stores to shop at, please share their links.
Are there any major retailers in North America you prefer?
You’d like to keep your laptop for about 3 years.

What type of optical drive do you need? DVD ROM/Writer, Bluray ROM/Writer, etc.?
None.

Tell us about the brands you like and dislike, and why.
I usually stick with HP hardware, but Samsung and Asus have been reliable for tablets, phones, and similar devices.

Which country do you reside in?
USA.

Please add any extra details if necessary.
I require a screen with good brightness and strong IPS technology. It should be matte to reduce reflections from outside.
I’m considering the ASUS VivoBook 16 series, but I’m open to other options. These models offer better protection for outdoor use compared to the HP ones I’ve seen. Since I’ll need to travel with my laptop, a size larger than 16 inches isn’t ideal due to weight concerns.

Looking at the specs of the Ryzen 5 and Intel Core 5, it seems the Ryzen might offer longer battery life, though it’s unclear if the Intel version matches. At 250 nits, I’m concerned about screen brightness in bright conditions.
