Question about AMD XFX RX 5700 (vBios)
Question about AMD XFX RX 5700 (vBios)
Hello everyone! I've been facing problems with my GPU since purchase, including frequent crashes, BSODs, and poor performance or micro stutters. After spending five long years last weekend, I managed to resolve these issues by using the Radeon software to generate a profile with a minimum clock matching my advertised base clock. I exported that profile, reinstalled Radeon via DDU, removed it completely, then reinstalled the drivers only, and finally set the exported profile in MSI. Additionally, I turned off all power-saving features in More Power Tools.
While doing this, I contacted XFX to inquire about a newer version of my vBios, hoping it would help. They sent me a file, but I'm unsure whether to flash it or not. On one hand, it's working well now, but on the other, it might still be improved. I'm also curious about your thoughts since I mentioned to the support team that my board uses micron memory, even though most boards I checked are compatible with both Samsung and micron types.

Welcome to the forums, newcomer!
On the one hand its running great right now, on the other hand it could be better still. So what i am wondering is whats you guys's insight. Should i flash it or not.
There's a saying,
if it ain't broke, don't fix it.
I have been having issues with my GPU since I bought it, constant crashes, BSODs, and just simply bad performance or micro stutters.
Please list the specs to your build like so:
CPU:
CPU cooler:
Motherboard:
Ram:
SSD/HDD:
GPU:
PSU:
Chassis:
OS:
Monitor:
include the age of the PSU apart from it's make and model. BIOS version for your motherboard at this moment of time.
PSU: Kolink 600w (5 years old)
Kolink is the manufacturer of this device, and 600W represents its advertised power consumption. What model does this PSU belong to?
You haven’t provided details about your motherboard’s make, model, or BIOS version.
RAM: 16Gigabytes Kingston 3200mhz + 2x8GB Kingston 3000mhz
These are two different RAM configurations; we recommend using a single kit. Please let us know how you’re handling them—whether with overclocking or adjusted timings.
You mentioned obtaining a VBIOS from XFX. Would they share the version they sent? What BIOS version are you currently running? Use GPU-Z to check your GPU’s VBIOS details.
Also, I didn’t inform the support team that my board uses micron memory, though most boards with this type of memory can work with Samsung and micron variants in the database.
For context, what temperatures are you observing for your CPU and GPU—both idle and under load? Also, what is the ambient temperature in your room?
