Hello! I just upgraded my GPU to an Radeon RX 560 4 GB, but it doesn’t reach its full performance due to the limitations of my CPU. The main issue is bottlenecking, and the only solution I’ve considered is overclocking the CPU since I don’t have a new one.

I’m completely new to CPU overclocking and need clear guidance, step by step.

Here’s a quick overview of my current PC setup:
CPU: AMD Phenom II x6
Motherboard: ASRock 970 Pro3 R2.0
Cooler: Zalman CNPS9900max (not stock)
RAM: 8GB DDR3 at 1333 MHz
Power Supply: Corsair TX650 80 PLUS Bronze (650W)
HDD: A 500 GB drive, but I’m not sure it’s important

My main goal is to find out if this rig can handle overclocking the GPU up to around 3.5 GHz or higher, and what the limits are. I really appreciate any help you can give me.

Also, my CPU temperature during idle is currently 21°C.

the cpu is really hot and requires a solid cooling fix to overclock. its outdated design makes it struggle with modern games. check if your motherboard supports am4, consider the fx 8350, or sell the main cpu package and invest in a b75 and i5 3rd gen for better performance.

but i've noticed it's a really good over-clocker, honestly, and since i don't have a stock cooler, that should count as a bonus.
