I'm trying to get my new build up and running. I have a Gigabyte B760M C motherboard and an Intel Core i5-14500 CPU. When I press the power button, nothing happens. But if I disconnect the power from the CPU (ATX_12V_2X4), the computer turns on and the lights and fans activate, staying on until I shut it down. The "CPU status LED" lights up, which makes sense since the CPU isn't working. I've double-checked that the CPU is installed correctly. Any suggestions?

The BIOS on the motherboard is compatible with the CPU. The PSU model is not specified in the details provided.

thanks for the response. the psu is a thermaltake smart 600w atx model, i previously used it in a previous build and confirmed it functions properly. pcpartpicker and newegg's builder indicate compatibility.

What BIOS version do you have installed? You must update to version F8 to operate with this processor.

This power supply is of poor quality. It has very weak voltage regulation and lacks essential protection features. It works only if the motherboard supports the required BIOS version.

I'm not seeing any output from the monitor due to my graphics card (ASRock RX5700 Phantom Gaming D 8G OC Radeon RX 5700 8 GB Video Card). I reused it from my previous setup, so I know it functions. I removed and reinstalled the card to verify installation. I'm wondering if the BIOS needs updating to run the graphics card, and is there a method to check or update the BIOS without using a monitor?

If the BIOS hasn't been updated to support the CPU, then no display will appear, regardless of whether it uses a GPU or integrated graphics.
Are you sure the motherboard comes with the original BIOS? Have you modified the BIOS settings beforehand? Is there any label on the board indicating the out-of-box BIOS version? Since we can't visit your home or test the system directly, all we know is what you provide.

you haven't found any details on the box or accompanying materials that mention the bios version number. the motherboard is already installed and all components are configured properly, including hard drives, graphics card, ram, etc. there isn’t a sticker on the mobo indicating the version. you can reinstall everything to verify if it’s necessary, but it appears the bios may require an update regardless of the current version. there seems to be no way to check without outputting to a monitor.

The manual should include instructions for updating with the Q-Flash Plus function.

Thanks for the assistance. I tried Q Flash Plus and everything functioned properly. The screen would blink, then finish updating and the system shut down. After reassembling the components (RAM, CPU, etc.), I'm still facing the problem of pressing the power button doing nothing. If I disconnect the CPU power and then press the power button, the PC turns on with fans spinning and lights illuminating, but it seems to have no effect without a running CPU.
