Hi, welcome. I moved from 3700x to 5900x using the x370 gaming K7. After installing the new CPU, I checked some R20 scores and found my current speed around 8000. Other reviewers on YouTube seem to report numbers closer to 8300 and 8700. It’s unclear if the issue is with the chip or the motherboard. I’m trying to understand how to use PBO in BIOS but keep encountering crashes when using CoreCycler even at negative settings. Would anyone help me with overclocking via PBO without doing a full manual core adjustment? I believe it could reach 4.4GHz or 4.5GHz at around 1.35V. Please don’t mind if I’m not fully familiar with all the overclock parameters.

The Gigabyte X370 Gaming K7 features six 40A power stages for the CPU. It’s possible the VRMs might not provide enough power to run a 5900X with PBO turned on. I suggest checking HWInfo and tracking CPU, Infinity Fabric, memory speed, and temperatures. Log your data without PBO, then compare with PBO enabled. Also, confirm the memory frequency—DRAM and interface run at the same rate up to around 1900 MHz (such as DDR4-3800). If you use speeds like DDR4-2666 or DDR4-3000, performance will drop noticeably.
