Hello everyone, welcome! I'm just starting out with PCs and would appreciate your advice. My current configuration includes a prebuilt system with these components: CPU - Ryzen 7 3700X, motherboard - Gigabyte B550M DS3H AC, GPU - MSI Ventus 2x 3070, RAM - 32GB, CPU cooler - NZXT Kraken Z53 240mm, PSU - not sure about the wattage. I'm planning to upgrade my CPU from a Ryzen 9 5900X later and want to know if it fits with my existing setup. I noticed that the 5900X should work with the DS3H AC after updating the BIOS, but some forums warned against pairing it. A few suggested it would be fine. I'm eager to install it now while I still have my current motherboard. Thanks for your help!

You should be all right, just execute it at stock, avoid OC or PBO.

This board isn't designed to manage such high resolutions—3700x or even 5900x won’t work properly. It will function but at a reduced speed because the VRMs will overheat constantly. This overheating will eventually cause the motherboard to fail. Right now, the DS3H is already operating beyond its limits.

The DS3H supports a 5900X at standard speeds. The power regulators perform adequately, though they aren’t optimal. This depends on your case design—make sure it allows sufficient airflow around the regulators. What case are you using and how does the fan setup look?

It's a Rosewill prism s500 model. It features three bottom intake fans and one exit fan at the rear.

In HUB's B550 VRM evaluation, the DS3H reaches up to 89°C after an hour of continuous Blender load using the 3900X. This outcome isn't perfect, but it avoids throttling and doesn't risk damaging the board.
