Question 2.4 5ghz Band Connection Problem
Question 2.4 5ghz Band Connection Problem
Windows 11 Vodafone thg3000 router tp link network adapter
Each time I turn on my PC, it automatically joins the 5ghz band for 4k streaming. It works with the 2.4 band but only when I manually select it. Anyone know how to make the PC ignore the 5ghz band and connect to the other one?
When both bands share the same Wi-Fi name, the adapter selects the one with the strongest signal and highest speed, usually operating at 5GHz. You need to adjust your router settings so that 5GHz and 2.4GHz are distinct. However, keeping your PC connected to the 5GHz network shouldn't affect streaming unless you've set excessively high bit rates for your media files. Most commercial streaming services use 40Mbit or less for 4K content.
They are distinct with unique names—home and 4K. I prefer allocating full bandwidth to the 4K option whenever it works well. Usually, it connects smoothly to that range.
If they have distinct names, you can access the saved WIFI list and remove the unwanted entry.
It's actually worth noting that the 5 GHz range offers quicker data transfer, so I believe it's a good thing and should be embraced. Thanks everyone.
