Bulldozer performed poorly. The older Phenom chip offers superior single core and multi-core capabilities. For context, Bulldozer—the framework behind the 6100—almost caused AMD financial trouble. (Perhaps Piledriver was the one that came first. They’re essentially similar.)

You can try an 8350 by pushing it to its limits, but a second-gen Intel chip is affordable enough that opting for an i5-2400 would likely be a smarter choice.

I recommend choosing a more powerful case instead. Upgrading an AM3 PC is similar to swapping the engine gasket on a 600k mile Chrysler minivan—it could perform slightly better, but it's not a worthwhile investment.
