Greetings, I will attempt to keep this brief, but I have been experiencing significant issues for the past day, and without any additional components or systems to test with, I'm uncertain where to begin.
This entire situation began when I observed a very narrow vertical line appearing on my primary monitor (Alienware aw2721). It appeared randomly, prompting me to reboot, check connections, and swap cables with my secondary display (an old 1080p Benq), yet nothing seemed to resolve the issue. The line did not manifest on the secondary display, leading me to believe it was monitor-related. I opted to revert to an older GPU driver, as I had recently updated it. I suspect that I may have exacerbated the issue since I did not use DDU and haven’t done so in a long time, likely resulting in multiple layers of drivers being installed over time.
I subsequently tried to perform a system restore to see if that would remedy the situation, but it failed, resulting in a blue screen/automatic repair loop. I continued to encounter difficulties diagnosing the issue while using the primary monitor. In regular Windows mode, the screen would refresh itself approximately every 5 seconds, interrupting whatever I was attempting to do. In safe mode, it opened browser after browser on its own, and I was unable to intervene. I eventually accessed Windows using only the secondary display and employed DDU to uninstall and install a new driver, but I am still facing some challenges.
To evaluate the GPU, I attempted to run 3DMark at stock settings, which caused the system to crash after a minute. As I mentioned, I lack an extra GPU or system to test with, so I'm somewhat perplexed about what to do next. It’s safe to conclude that the monitor is faulty due to the line, but I am uncertain what I might have done to the system since it was functioning perfectly prior to noticing the line.
Here are the specifications, and I would greatly appreciate any feedback....
Mobo: X570 Dark Hero
CPU: Ryzen 5900X
GPU: Powercolor Red Devil Ultimate 6900 XT
RAM: 64GB Corsair Dominator Platinum
PSU: Corsair RMX1000w
There’s ample cooling, and temperatures are consistently good, even during overclocked gaming.

As my closest friend often says, "If it’s not broken; don’t fix it." Ironically, I also possess an Alienware display with lines on it, but that was a result of me hitting it out of gamer frustration. I believed I had damaged it until I decided to give it another shot and discovered it still functions, albeit with about 1/32 of the screen exposed on the left side. I never sent it for repair as I no longer use it for gaming, only streaming. Your best option seemed to be to do nothing, apparently, but that’s not feasible now. Therefore, your best course of action is to see if you can calibrate the display and possibly eliminate the lines you mentioned here, or, as long as it doesn’t truly concern you; go with it and figure out how to prevent your system from crashing, as this also occurred with my best friend. He restored 1-3 times consecutively, then reinstalled Windows, which caused multiple crashes, leading him to purchase a new system after learning from his experiences, lol. It’s somewhat challenging for me to diagnose a Windows issue when the problem created itself, lol.................................

Indeed, I am aware and should know better, haha....It appears that a fresh installation of Windows resolved the issues, minus the monitor line, of course. I hope to obtain an RMA for it.

Wishing you the best of luck with that. I wonder if the lines are a result of the refresh rate being too low or something else, as the one I mentioned also has lines that appear at the bottom but only if the Hz is below 144. Just something to consider.

It’s actually just a single thin line which, according to Google searches, seems to develop with age. It’s a 1440p 240Hz monitor that has always been operated that way, and it is approaching 3 years old. Yes, they should last longer; it's just unfortunate.

Certainly. I mean, I don’t know if you’ve tried HDMI or not, but that’s just my thought if it would eliminate the issue, although it lowers the rate and resolution regardless, lol.....................
