Q6600
Q6600
did anyone know how to increase the cpu speed of the core 2 quad q6600 to 3ghz? (mobo: asrock g41m-vs3)
G41 boards don't support OC properly. At least not effectively. The Q6600 runs at 2.4GHz with a 1066 FSB, giving a CPU multiplier of 9. A 3GHz setting would mean around 333.33FSB, which might work but depends on your specific board and RAM. Increasing the FSB also raises RAM speed, and many G41 boards lack suitable FSB:RAM ratios. If this isn't clear, you should look into OC guides—just don't rely solely on BIOS settings.

I won't be doing much, if any, on an ICH 7 board; you'll need at least an ICH 8 for anything close to an overclock. Asrock assembled that board as the cheapest option to get a quad-core processor, but it's quite chipset constrained otherwise.
