How can I take off the back cover on my Acer aspire 1 722 laptop so I can access the CMOS? It's stuck with just one screw and I have a Torx precision screwdriver set, but I still can't get it out. I had to remove it to upgrade my RAM or take out the battery to open up the BIOS settings, even though passwords won't help me through this process now.
The quickest way to fix some computers is to get the whole repair kit that includes every standard screw and bit you'll need for the locks on those machines.
I have that kit, but nobody could take it off. By the way, after my post, I saw a YouTube video showing someone how to remove a keyboard so they can see inside the laptop. She didn't say anything or explain what she was using. It looked like she used a razor blade along the edges as if she were cutting the plastic where the keyboard meets the screen. I tried that with a straight edge razor, but it didn't work at all. I only managed to pull out a few letter keys.
Normally, people use a small card or a guitar pick to pry things open. I rarely see blades used just for peeling off stickers that hide screws underneath, usually because we want to keep the sticker and glue intact. Is this one of my Aspire netbooks with an Atom processor?
