Did anyone else notice that stuff on your computer at home or work keeps taking twice the time? Like when you click a search bar and nothing happens, you have to click again. Same with other things in Windows 11 or different web browsers. Maybe it's just me..
Agreed. Mouse clicks not registering. Another thing is applications stealing focus. While your mouse may be over something, doesn't mean that is the active window. Just depends on how well people have programmed all the things you have running on your system at any given moment. Now, there is a weird issue that I swear seems to be limited to Dell systems. Random hitches in HID devices. Essentially the whole system pauses, and then resumes, but while that happens it ignores key presses entirely. So I will often be writing and have two or three characters just get skipped. Other systems that have such pauses keep registering keystrokes and it just gets drawn a little after the fact. No way. If clicking the search box makes no change at all, something is definitely broken. Sometimes bugs do show up occasionally—but it should never stay that way on every single try.
That thing I'm talking about feels like it's just me, because on all three of my computers running Windows 11 (I have three of them), this problem never shows up. They are different machines with different processors: one has an Intel Core i7-6700K, another is a Ryzen 5 12700X, and the last one uses a Ryzen 5 5600G. On all of those machines, nothing breaks like this. Maybe you should try wiping Windows clean from scratch and then manually installing the drivers for your motherboard, sound cards, network stuff, and other gear from the website of the maker of the parts. Now I have noticed some weird things in Windows 11 that I never saw on any system running Windows 10, like clicking into a text box without being allowed to right-click "Copy," yet pressing Ctrl+C still copies correctly. This might just be because registry settings changed and caused those context menus to behave differently when you try to restore them so normal right-clicks work again instead of the very annoying partial menus that Microsoft keeps pushing down on us to make the OS look different from before. If they would just fix things that have been broken in many versions of Windows for a long time and leave these weird behaviors alone, people would be much happier.
It isn't only Windows 11; there are lots of online systems too. Now, I totally agree with you about those pop-up menus on Windows that change all the time. Once I get used to doing things in two or three steps here, they suddenly turn into a four or five step process. I think this is way more selfish than just letting kids learn how to code; it feels like we're taking control away from people who own their own version of the operating system. This isn't just about money; it hurts regular users too.
Is it just me thinking maybe you should try a new mouse or change some settings there? Edit to say: There are lots of work tasks I do all day, so sometimes I move my box and click, but I never really stopped moving the mouse. That usually shows a ghosting issue with the cut drop feature. Are you sure this isn't what's going on?
