I... wait, no. One or both of us is confused. You say the noise doesn't bother you, and then immediately turn around and say you want to keep it as quiet as possible.
1) I was explaining that the 140mm radiators are significantly better. They let you use larger, quieter fans. This is a good thing.
2) You're WAY overestimating how much radiator space you need. Remember that watts of heat dissipated does NOT directly equal the watts of power your computer is consuming. The TDP of a GTX 1080 is 180W and the TDP of an i7-6700K is 91W. Not even 300W total.
1400w of dissipation is both expensive and silly for such a scenario.
Let's start with this: what parts are you going to be cooling and what are you hoping to get out of your cooling setup?
Sorry I'm not very good at explaining myself. Noise isn't a major issue for me as i prefer performance but I was hoping to go for an overkill amount of cooling so that I could overclock quite a but whilst still keeping the system cool & quiet.
My main priority is to overclock as much as possible then I will try to reduce the noise.
I'm not sure of the exact components yet as I am waiting for them to be released but I have an idea of the specs I will be looking for.
6 core i7 overclocked
2 x AMD's best GPU (Vega I think is released soon?)
I know the heat dissipated isn't the same as the power consumption.
I used EKWB Custom loop config to work out what is needed.
Using 2 Fury X and an x99 cpu as an example it gave me a tdp of 713w while 1 x 420mm rad can dissipate 722w.
If I am going to overclock the I will need to add another radiator. I like the EVGA DG-86 and figured if i have to add another radiator then i may aswell add another 420mm considering the case supports it because the price isn't going to vary massively depending on the rad that i get.

Ah, okay, I see what you're saying there. A 3x140mm radiator should still be just plenty to keep things cool - normally you'd be able to get away with a 3x120mm radiator and a mild CPU overclock, so with over 25% more surface area...
...Ahh, see, that's the part that we were missing; a hex-core is a significantly higher TDP, as are a pair of AMD cards as opposed to a single
nvidia card. The second radiator would be warranted there. You could probably get a double for slightly cheaper, but if it doesn't make a huge difference, then yeah, go ahead and go with the matching pair.

Understood, I see your point. A 3x140mm radiator should still suffice to maintain cool temperatures—typically you'd manage with a 3x120mm model and a mild CPU overclock, given the increased surface area...

...Ah, right there—it was the missing component we were discussing; a hex-core design significantly raises the TDP, as does using two AMD cards instead of one NVIDIA card. The second radiator would be justified there. You might find a double option at a slightly lower cost, but if it doesn’t noticeably improve performance, it’s perfectly fine to proceed with the matching pair.

Great. That simplifies things for me now. Thanks a lot!

It'll definitely be much quieter then. If you're considering a custom water cooling loop and have already invested in that setup, why not opt for the radiator space with decent-quality fans? That would eliminate any worries about noise or performance.

That was my main concern. I was thinking of a 360 + 240 configuration and likely using EKWB since it has a configurator to help me select the necessary parts. This will be my first custom loop, so I'm curious—are there other brands you'd recommend swapping in?

Honestly, branding in watercooling can get messy. I've seen disagreements start over it. 😛

That said, I really like the Black Ice Stealth radiators. They're hard to find now that FrozenCPU has shut down, but they offer a high fin density per inch and perform very well—especially with strong static pressure fans.

If your goal is maximum silence, go for a PWM-controlled D5 pump—Swifttech has one, or the new VPP755? I think that's PWM controlled.

Fans? Noctua or Scythe are the best options. Nothing else comes close.

Yes, building a fully custom loop will cost a bit more, but it really does help with noise. If your case allows, adding self-adhesive sound-dampening foam and trimming it to fit can make a big difference without affecting temperatures much.

EDIT: If your case supports it, a dual 140mm radiator gives nearly the same surface area as a triple 120mm one, and 140mm fans are significantly quieter. For cooling a new i7 and GTX 1080, three 140mm slots would be excessive but could run almost silently. I have a custom loop with three 2x140mm radiators in a sound-dampened box, along with the pump and reservoir. The loudest parts are the motherboard capacitors and power supply.

FrozenCPU is back online. I've ordered some parts from them recently—about a month ago and again two weeks ago. They responded quickly and delivered on time. I started small at first, but they seem to be getting back into the game.

Are they truly okay? That's great news! What happened to them? Is it the same owner?

Same owner... which is why I had to be careful. What I heard was that the owner had a "melt down" kind of situation. Some things got destroyed, he locked everything in, orders were left incomplete, and so on... it's not great. He has a long way to go before the wc community fully trusts him again.

Yeah, no, it was... rough. At the very least, I have to say that. He ruined a lot of things people had made for him and kept the site online but stopped shipping anything.
Even being able to purchase from them and get parts, even if risky, is a big improvement.

If you Google it, there are a few forum threads...some including people that worked there at the time. I'm not here to try and bash anyone, but there is a story behind it.

Eh....they had parts I needed that nobody else had. They weren't costly, so I thought about trying it. I've placed two orders from them now...no issues so far. I don't believe I'll ever order a large quantity again, especially since PPCS is still in play and prices are very competitive.

I used to buy everything from them back then, but stopped after hearing about orders that were never fulfilled or refunded. Most of my purchases now come from PPCS too.
