I aim for Windows 8.1 at the lowest cost. It might be more affordable if I purchase it directly from the Microsoft store in my country, though that isn't necessarily the cheapest route. I'm considering buying it online but am unsure about the process since I've never done it before. I want to avoid scams and legal issues, so I need clear guidance. The typical steps would be: 1. Pay 2. Download the installer (or equivalent) 3. Install or upgrade

Ensure you have an official Windows 7 installation; Windows 10 will be available for Windows 8, 8.1, and 7 users at no cost.

I purchased the software from G2A for roughly twenty-five dollars. After that, I downloaded the Windows 8.1 ISO from Microsoft at no cost, installed it, and added the code during setup.

I believed this feature was intended for 8-8.1 users, not 7.

Upgrade only if your system is older than Windows 7. Just a thought. Upgrading doesn't seem worthwhile unless you receive it at no cost, probably.

As a student, you can purchase it at a reduced rate from the Windows Store, roughly 60€. A license is also required, but since Windows 10 is coming soon, I’ll wait to buy it then.

As others have said, I'd just wait for Win 10. It will indeed be free to Win 7 users along with Win 8, 8.1 users.

I attempted that but they respond that "their system doesn't accommodate elementary schools." Plus, it's a tiny nation facing economic challenges—you really can't even reach a 970 unless you somehow import it from the U.S. or another place.
