I apply XMP only on my 5600X when targeting 2000 FCLK or higher; below that performance drops significantly, so I run a manual tune and my configurations outperform the XMP ones until around 1900 with a 1:1 ratio, after which they require adjustment.

just here to mention I’d choose a 2x16 for top performance instead of ballistix. either the 130USD CL16 set or the 240USD CL14 set, I picked 4x8 because the 2x16 wasn’t available then. also, after 3666-3733 with four sticks, things get tough on an Intel platform. how did this shift from a budget RAM plan to maxing out?

5800X3D shares the same IMC as other Ryzen 5000 processors. For regular use you should likely stay under 2000 FCLK. Prioritize shorter clock speeds. I don’t have information on local prices, but if Crucial Ballistix bundles are affordable, consider them. Options like 3800-15 or 4000-16 work well. If Ballistix kits match the price, opt for B-Die models. Tighter speeds and lower timings offer better performance and stability. Not advised to use Corsair for overclocking—my experience shows it’s not reliable. I used a 3200-14-14-14-34 kit but couldn’t reach 3600-14-14-14-34 at 1.55V, whereas with the Patriot 4000-19 I easily hit 3933-14-15-8-12-21-34 at 1.57V.

Your RAM model is essentially the same, but yours has an X at the end because of a Gen X. It cost more—135€ compared to what you paid for others. There are many cheaper Trident Z options available, though they might not be as good.

Going tighter and quicker is ideal. Running the CPU smoothly on standard RAM is not great. Dual-ranked build... 2x16 or 4x8 would work best. C14 is preferred, though C16 is also fine.
