I purchased Minecraft for myself and my nephew many years ago, and he’s been using my account at his house. He asks me to join so he can play with him. Should I have my own copy or can I use the same account? Do I need a different email address for login? There appear to be two prices: the MS Store at 29.99 and the online Mojang store at 26.99. Which one should I choose? I prefer not to play in a browser.

You’ll need a separate copy if you want to use two different accounts, it’s unlikely you can play the same one at once. When you buy Minecraft from the Mojang store, they send you an email with a code that you use to purchase the game. Then you can download the installer from the Mojang website (Java version) or the Microsoft store (Windows/Bedrock). Be sure to match the version your nephew is using before buying. Java and Bedrock editions are different, so don’t mix them up.

You should have purchased it before and can log in on minecraft.net to get it, provided you bought the Java version. The Bedrock edition is available through the Microsoft Store.

Really? You can't play that way? It looks like a simple mistake. Appreciate you clarifying so I wouldn’t get the wrong version.

If you wish to use him together, do you require a licensed version of the material?

The update clarifies that Bedrock edition allows crossplay across consoles, mobile, and Windows 10. The Java edition remains the base version, so only compatible players can join. Ensure you buy the right edition.

they use distinct mechanics, I don’t know why they chose this but they did. I bought the Java version last year and it was bundled with a Windows installer for free. You might want to verify if that deal is still offered.
