Purchasing a new GPU with an obstructed SATA cable route
Hello, I own my PC for some time now and am considering upgrading my GPU to the Gigabyte GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER 8 GB WINDFORCE OC 3X. It mentions a width of 5 cm, which is three centimeters wider than my Palit Dual GTX 1060 6 GB model. However, one of my SATA cables is extremely close to the GPU I already have, and I understand that the new GPU wouldn’t fit there because the cable would block its path. I checked my motherboard and noticed two black boxes labeled "SATA 'arrow down' 5 'arrow up' 6" and "SATA 'arrow down' 3 'arrow up' 4." I’m unsure if these are removable and I’m certain there must be a SATA port available since a wider GPU isn’t possible at the moment. Could you assist me? I really have the RTX 2070S ready to go. Thanks!
These containers serve as extra SATA connections, positioned outward from the motherboard for this purpose, ensuring they don’t obstruct a GPU. Are your wires connected to the labels SATA1 and SATA2 exiting the board? If yes, relocate them into the corresponding slots on those containers to free up space around the GPU.
