Hello everyone! I'm looking for a new CPU/Motherboard combination and not sure which one to pick. Right now I have an Intel i7 6700K with an Asus Z170-AR motherboard. I'm interested in the latest AMD offerings but haven't played much PC gaming lately. Most benchmarks show the I9 9900K outperforming the Ryzen 9 3900X, especially for games like Skyrim and Modern Warfare. I enjoy high graphics settings and aim for top FPS. Usually I use Discord and Chrome while gaming, but not too much otherwise. Occasionally I stream a bit on YouTube or Google Play Music, but it's not intense. My main concern is future-proofing: should I wait for AMD's upcoming Ryzen 400 release in September, or should I go with one of these setups now because of good deals? I chose the motherboards mainly because they're praised for their VRM and memory controllers. I'm also running a NVIDIA RTX 2080 Founder's Edition. Hope this helps!

For immediate action, Intel remains the best option. I wouldn’t upgrade my motherboard since Intel has new releases this year! Sooner still, AMD could surpass Intel in desktop CPU performance for gaming.

I believed there was discussion about the delayed release of new Ryzen chips because of the coronavirus. For those not gaming, the Ryzen 9 3900X stands out as the clear option at the same cost as the i9 9900K. Except for single-core performance, it outperforms the i9 in every category, while still matching its rival impressively.

What?! I need it for word processing and browsing the internet! But I only have a 3600! I must hurry to Microcenter right now! Seriously, those extra cores are crucial for high-end photo editing, compiling large programs, video editing, but not anything else except gaming.

In the style of the renowned band Midnight Oil and the WoW commander "Dives," facts remain facts. If your gaming performance doesn't match your preferences on the charts below, address it. Reacting with frustration online won't improve anything. Grasping the charts and recognizing the value of testing at 720p and 1080p is crucial—otherwise you're missing the point. Educate yourself, then return to post thoughtfully instead of causing embarrassment.
