Hey everyone, just wanted to chat about a common issue I faced. I decided to buy the Ryzen Threadripper 3790x because its base clock seemed better than the 3990x. However, I noticed many videos showing overclocking isn’t that significant, and one video from Linu really made me hesitate about the 2990x. I started questioning whether I should have chosen the newer model. Any thoughts on this? Thanks!

Honestly, I don’t have much to offer that would justify this level of power, but I can’t shake the guilt about not contributing enough. I’m leaning toward the “just because” mindset. And sure, it’s my personal computer.

I believe the 3950X might be too much for your needs and it only has a quarter of the cores and threads you're considering. Are you certain you don't need the funds for other things, such as a new car? You can simply leave this link: https://www.techradar.com/news/amd-threa...-to-handle
Base clock represents the lowest possible speed any core can operate on during a task. Adding more cores typically reduces this minimum speed. A 24-core system may run faster than a 32-core one, but both share the same base clock for 24 cores. Just a note at the end.
