Today I purchased a second-hand Hypa Play 14 laptop from a reputable shop in the UK (CEX). Unfortunately, I encountered an issue with the BIOS settings during the memory check—it won’t power on. After disassembling it, I tried opening the battery compartment and replacing it, but nothing worked. The BIOS and memory remain intact. It only displays a "blink" effect when the power button is pressed, then shuts down completely. There’s no display at all. Can I possibly restore this laptop after such a short usage?
In BIOS updates, changes need to be preserved to have lasting effects; otherwise, random adjustments that stop working point to a hardware issue.
It seems the issue might be related to a memory problem in the BIOS (probably to fix the default settings). Luckily, everything functioned properly before that. The motherboards for this laptop are reasonably cheap, which helps. I’ve identified the BIOS version it uses and decided to let it run without battery power, though it still restarts on and off even when connected via USB.
If you have access to the laptop's internal components, you may locate the CMOS battery—a small round cell. Remove your laptop's battery first, then take out the CMOS battery. Wait roughly ten seconds before reinserting it. Once back together, restore the battery and power on the device to test.
If the issue persists, as mentioned by others, it might be a problem with the laptop itself. The steps taken here were intended to reset the BIOS settings, which will revert any modifications.
Thank you for your feedback. I disassembled the laptop and successfully removed the battery. Fortunately, it's now functioning properly! There are still problems with the wifi driver—specifically, no ethernet connection port is available, preventing that access method. This issue occurred after a driver update which completely reset everything.
