You're starting out with Bioshock, right? Playing Bioshock 1, then 2, and finally Infinite sounds like a solid plan. The first two games have engaging stories, though the visuals aren't as impressive as in Infinite. You'll likely find both challenging and rewarding as you progress through the narrative.
It's even more intense and thrilling in one, great gunplay in two, three... I didn't like three at all. Just a basic shooter with no skill.
It seems like you're enjoying a slightly unsettling experience. You're progressing through Metro Last Light, which already feels quite tense, and you're comparing it to Bioshock—though you think the latter is more intense in its scares.
BioShock isn't meant to be frightening; it might feel eerie at most, but it never tries to be scary. BioShock 2 leans more toward gameplay than narrative because the studio is part of 2K and isn't trying to be a horror game. Infinite offers a compelling story and improved mechanics compared to the original, with more attention to detail while still being polished.
I actually just played the original last week, for the first time ever. Graphics are surprisingly good (though of course not great), and the story is, of course, fantastic. As for 2, I played 20 minutes, and got a crash on the cutscene- and the game didn't save up to then. I may play later. Infinite was great, I played that about a month after release. Probably more exciting than 1, but less claustrophobic and dark, which added to the original's atmosphere. Still dark, but not literally Bioshock 1 - 9/10 Bioshock 2 - N/A Infinit- 8.5/10
The weapons and firearms are quite common, and shooting is a well-established part of many activities.
