I tested connecting the modem to a laptop and it functioned properly. This suggests the other computer had a problem. Now I should access the router and adjust its settings.

The issue is unclear, as it seems to relate to Windows but isn't specific enough. You mentioned an older version (8.1) and are unsure how to proceed. Someone with Windows 10 would be better suited to help.

Both the laptop and desktop are set to 10. It might be related to the settings on the desktop. At least I’ve gained some stability now.

You may need to connect to that specific computer. Hmm, is there a router linking the PC to the modem? It could be related to router configurations, but more likely it’s PC settings. A simple test would be to send a ping from the PC to the modem. Look up the modem’s IP address (it should be on the device) and in a standard web browser type “http://{number}” if your PC runs normal settings. If it fails, check another method. The PC will have an Ethernet port and a Wi-Fi port, each with its own IP address. Discover those numbers (you don’t know much about Windows 10) and repeat the process from the laptop.

The PC is now operational. Disabled the Wi-Fi adapter and the NPCAP loopback adapter.

The router displays a bright amber indicator when connected, indicating an issue. I’ll check the settings to see if I can resolve it.
