as described in the title, the "Beast Power Z" power supply functioned correctly on an AM4 gigabyte a520 motherboard, but when used on a PC with a Chinese motherboard (model X99, named "ZSUS X99-P4"), it caused the CPU and its fan to spin for one second before stopping.

I don't understand why it doesn't work, but a 4-pin setup seems sufficient since most Chinese X99 boards don't actually use the X99 chipset. Instead, an 80-series Lynx Point one (such as B85) which is BIOS-hacked for LGA-2011-3. The hint is that they only have dual-channel memory rather than quad-channel like a real X99, making ZSUS... questionable. It's about as enterprise-grade as those power supplies.

The unusual aspect is that the "Mac-tech" only features a 4-pin CPU connector rather than an 8-pin one in the "Beast Power Z" power supply, and the brand of this new power supply is well-known in my country, which makes me confused about why it didn't work. Could there be a setting in the BIOS of this Chinese motherboard that prevents it from functioning correctly?

Since I’m not familiar with those two power supply brands you showed, I can share what I’ve experienced. I tried an 8-pin board with a CPU fan that wouldn’t twitch and didn’t boot. On the same power supply, a 6-pin motherboard CPU cable worked fine for booting. My initial guess was the board itself might be faulty, so I replaced it. The issue then changed—using the 8-pin board still didn’t boot, but the 6-pin one did. It seems both power supplies had single-rail 12-volt connections, which might explain the problem. I haven’t thoroughly examined the non-working 8-pin supply, just removed it and moved on.

i think this setup relies more on the single rail 5-volt wires rather than the 12v lines because the updated power supply has fewer components.

It's questionable whether 16 amps on the 5v rail is suitable for such a system, even if it's outdated hardware. I think the board might not adhere to standard specifications and could have some issues. Have you experimented with just the 4pin PSU? Given it's an Xeon model, the 8pin EPS is likely unnecessary, especially with a locked boost on all cores. What model is this board from?

I'm sorry, but I need to clarify that the 6 pin was mentioned earlier. I believe you intended to refer to a 4 pin setup. It's our first day of intense summer heat and it's getting really hot today.

i only used one 4-pin connector and it spins the fans for about 2 to 3 seconds before stopping.
the full 8-pin connector didn't work either.
the 6-pin connector also didn't function.
the board model is x99-p4 or x99-8d4.
