It seems your hardware isn’t reaching its full potential despite stable temperatures. Possible reasons could include driver issues, software bugs, or background processes consuming resources. Even with strong cooling and a solid CPU, factors like GPU bottlenecks, memory limitations, or inefficient settings might be causing the performance drop. Checking for updates, closing unnecessary programs, and ensuring proper drivers could help improve stability and frame rates.

It operates within the Arma engine framework... possibilities are endless.

I use the identical graphics card you do, but I keep it at 60 frames per second with full performance.

PUBG runs on Unreal Engine 4. It remains quite inefficient, delivering a fairly standard experience based on my observations.

I was planning to share my experience about this game. I also have a 980ti and need to run it with low settings to achieve 40 fps on a 1440p ultrawide display. I’m not sure what’s happening. The game feels very choppy. I usually play most AAA titles like Witcher and GTA V at high ultra settings for 60fps, but this one just slows down completely.

It’s all about making the best of what you have. The system isn’t using every resource efficiently. It switches between components frequently, which keeps CPU usage near 70%, GPU load manageable, and SLI scales well for me. However, the load stays around 80% each time. I’m running it at ultra 1440p with a 4790k at 4.9ghz and an overclocked SLI 1070. On average, I get 60–80 frames, dropping to the 50s during streaming and reaching up to 120 in a strong signal environment.

No matter your CPU performance, if GPU activity falls under 95%, the CPU is likely limiting speed. Don't stress too much—this pattern appears across most devices.

Do you possess one 16GB drive or two 8GB drives? It appears Pubg performs optimally with increased bandwidth from a dual-channel setup and a higher RAM frequency, ideally around 2133 MHz.

I'm using two 8-bit chips, which should work fine. It seems performance is dipping below 95%. Still believe my setup fits today's needs—planning to switch to an 8700k and 1080Ti with a tailored loop cooling solution.

Your equipment setup is solid. It’s important to note that most games struggle to distribute tasks evenly across threads, which limits how much your CPU can utilize. Your speed will depend on the slowest thread in action. An upgrade to an 8700k might improve things, but you may still face limitations until PUBG receives further enhancements.
