Hey there, I noticed some smoke coming from the PSU while I was playing in Outer Wilds. I quickly turned everything off and shut down my PC. I’ve had a Rm750 Corsair for about four years, so I’m wondering if this is normal and what it could mean.

Yea, figured that one. Is it normal after 4 years ? Is it my fault or just sometimes it happens Also is a rm750x a good replacement ? I have a ryzen 5600g a 3060 12g 16g ram 1t ssd

It's unusual for it to smoke occasionally, though it does happen from time to time. The current PSU isn't great, but it seems to work sometimes. These days, warranties are around 10 years—looks like I'm seeing one now. Edited October 24, 2025 by thrasher_565

use another machine while the return process finishes or replace the power supply with a confirmed functional or replacement unit.
