Two days ago I was cleaning dust from my cables and when I turned on the power, I heard a buzzing noise from the PSU c13 plug. I adjusted it to stop the sound. Shortly after, I noticed a burning smell and white smoke began to escape, followed by the power cord catching fire. I opened the PC case to look for any burnt connectors, but found nothing damaged. I replaced the power cord, and the PC is now working properly. It’s a budget PSU that I recently bought. Could you advise whether I should buy a new PSU to prevent this happening again?
It's possible you accidentally broke the power cord and didn't notice, causing a short circuit. If the original power source was faulty, the new cable might also fail. The real issue would likely be damage to the power supply itself. Luckily, if everything functions properly, it must have been fortunate.
