Hi,
I'm checking if my PSU or CPU overclock is causing a bottleneck.
I have an i7 5820k running at 4.2/4.3 Ghz through the automatic overclock setting on the Asus x99 Usb 3.1 motherboard.
I have 32 gigabytes of 4DDR RAM, Cryorig 40 ultimate cooling, and a 650W PSU which is quite good.
I also have a GTX 1070 and run three SSDs at the same time.
According to Spymaster 3Dmark, my frame rate is around 5900 FPS, with frames ranging from 22 to 45 depending on the scene.
Could the PSU or CPU overclock be limiting performance? If I increase the overclock further, might it help?
Anyone have suggestions?

Well then it doesn't appear to be a heat issue.
What are your core clocks while gaming? Does it stay stable or does it jump around a lot?

What are your CPU temperatures when not in use, during gameplay, and while testing benchmarks?

weberdarren97 :

Sorry for the delay, I assume people skipped reading this... I located it in the unanswered part.
Updated: Added tags to the thread.
Temperatures are fine. Idle CPU stays around 25-30°C, rising to about 47°C when active. Hot moments can push it to 62°C, though that's rare. The GPU seems to hit around 62°C when overheating.

Both issues arise if either has inconsistent clock speeds.
