I recently installed an upgrade kit including a PSU (RM1000x), MOBO (MSI B550 Gaming Plus) and a GPU (MSI RTX 5080). Before this change nothing unusual occurred, and I hadn't encountered anything similar before. I looked up possible causes like relays but found no specific info. The old PSU was an 8-year-old CX650 model—uncertain if it had such a feature. Close-up footage showed the components turning on and off during startup. Also, I noticed in my previous configuration with a HyperX audio mixer, the system handled power switches smoothly, but now connecting the mixer directly to the monitor caused loud speaker booms that disappeared when using the mixer via USB. I should note that the second clip I captured at 240 frames per second on my phone actually appears much more rapid than what you see.

Quick question: where do those three beeps originate? They remind me of a UPS shutting down when the load gets too high. The relay has been around in most power supplies for a long time. If it's not working, don't worry unless you suspect a fault. Then it's safer to return it under warranty rather than handling internal parts in a high-voltage box. To check if your PSU is functioning properly, try using another one. I just realized you can verify if your PSU has two power rails. If all power-hungry components such as the CPU and GPU are connected to the same rail, it might mean you're overloading that rail even with a 1000W PSU. Hope this helps.

I don’t have an ups, and I didn’t hear those beeps after that—it’s not related to the PC. Regarding the power rails, everything on my PSU is linked to the bottom layer, with roughly two connectors, right? I’ll give it a try moving them around.

Consider using both rails for load balancing. Even if it's just a single rail, it's safe to attempt. As an alternative, switch to a different power supply since the current protection mode suggests a problem.
