PSU cable pins ?
Hey everyone. I recently did my first upgrade to a new motherboard and added more memory, but there was a problem—my power supply is no longer working. I considered using one from an older PC, though I noticed the adapter cable pins have different shapes depending on the port design in each box. Will this still function properly, or could it cause damage? Tia.
Full parts list please. PSU model, motherboard model and everything in between.

when it stops functioning, there’s no built-in modern safeguard to stop it from taking everything else along. i’d suggest swapping it out. another important note is that the connections aren’t compatible. standards have evolved over 15 years, which is why it doesn’t connect. pushing it in isn’t the solution. they design the shapes this way to avoid inserting incompatible devices. the pins have changed too, so forcing it in could cause mismatched connections—like a 5v wire expecting ground or a 12v input into a 5v area. you’ll need a new power supply built specifically for your setup. while the h97 motherboard is outdated, it’s still significantly newer than that psu.
