I think my third power supply failed within two years. At first it seemed like an SSD problem, but I managed to fix those and ended up facing the same power supply concerns again. Earlier SSD problems (resolved last week): I encountered BSOD WHEA uncorrectable errors, and once the drive stopped being detected, it was fixed by reinserting it in its M.2 slot. Crystal Disk Info always showed the drive as healthy, suggesting the PSU might be the real issue now. Present Problem: My PC occasionally freezes, but I can still move my mouse with apps detecting movement, though they don’t respond. The only way to stop the freeze is to hold the power button and shut down completely. It also crashes entirely during intense gameplay. This pattern has happened with the last two PSUs. No BSOD in recent days. Power supplies + PC components: My current PSU is a Cooler Master MWE Gold 850 V2 (used for about 9-10 months). The original was a Cooler Master MWE Gold 750, which I returned for the 850 and had it RMA’d. I also used an EVGA Bronze 500W during the RMA period—it broke after roughly six months. Besides the PSU, I built my PC over four years ago, so everything is quite old. My components include a Ryzen 3600 MSI MPG X570 Gaming Edge Wifi Mobo, an ASUS Gaming X 2060 Super Vulcan 3200 with DDR4, and Asia Horse extension cables. I’m unsure if the power issue is the main cause or if another part is responsible. After about two years, I relocated to a place with worse wiring and electrical connections, where the first PSU failed. Since then, my PSUs have also stopped working in my school dorm, now split into two. I’d like to confirm whether this current problem is due to the power supply and try to understand why multiple PSUs have failed so quickly. Thanks for any assistance.
Sure, I understand. Just make sure to get a Corsair RXMX and stick to the included cables only.
You might need some extra power. Use a line conditioner. A 1200w model costs roughly $100 and helps improve wall power quality.
