Hello! I'm thinking about upgrading to a GPU and PSU, and I've decided on a 3070. I thought I'd purchase a solid 700 watt PSU, but when checking the GPUs, I came across some questions about PSUs.
I noticed that all the 3070 models at the stores I visited are OC versions. Here are some examples: MSI GeForce RTX 3070 Ventus 2X OC 8GB, Zotac Gaming GeForce RTX 3070 Twin Edge OC 8GB, Asus Dual Geforce RTX 3070 OC Edition 8GB, and a few others. I'm wondering if OC GPUs use more power than non-OC ones. Should I add 50 watts or should I go with the 700 watt model?
At first, I was planning to use the Zalman ZM700-EBTII 700 Watt 80 Plus Gold Full Modular PSU. But after seeing the OC options, I thought about the Zalman Teramax 750 Watt 80 Plus Gold Full Modular one.
I'm a bit on a budget but not giving up on quality. These prices seem reasonable compared to what I'd pay for a new GPU, and they're still quite steep. I understand what people might say, but I really want something reliable and affordable.
Also, I have the following setup:
- Storage: one x1 NVMe 250 GB and one 1TB HDD
- CPU: i5 10400F
- GPU: 1060 3GB (planning to replace later)
- RAM: 16 GB DDR4
- Current PSU: 500 watts (DN500)
I'm aware there might be a bottleneck, but I'm okay with it. My goal is to upgrade my old GPU and PSU. Also, which of the three GPUs you suggested would you recommend?

In Georgia, PCRoom offers a Be Quiet 700W Gold-rated unit priced 5 lari higher than the first Zalman model but cheaper than the second. I'd feel more at ease with it. Zalman is known for producing PSUs that only meet certain 80 Plus standards and then cut costs on other aspects.
Minor slowdown possible. You can still look for a used i7-11700 and buy a 2x16GB memory kit while prices remain favorable for DDR4.
A 700W power supply is more than enough for a GPU under 300W.
You need to check the power rating for each card to be sure. Overclocked models usually don’t exceed their non-overclocked counterparts in terms of power consumption. They might share the same TDP, but overclocked ones often have better BIOS tuning and higher clock speeds.
The main differences lie in the coolers. The larger one tends to offer the best boost performance (though each GPU behaves slightly differently).
Sorry, I'm based in Georgia with a budget ranging from about 300$ to around 4...50 dollars. I don't use online sites like Amazon or eBay; I shop at local Georgian PC hardware stores.
