PSO2 (PC) challenges...
I changed the store region yesterday just to begin downloading. Initially it didn’t start right away; I realized I needed to sign in and link it to an Xbox account (not online Windows). The launcher loaded and began another large download, eventually getting me in. Later, when I tried to launch, nothing happened. I checked the store page—seems the app hit an error. It offered a reinstall, but it already re-verified on disk files, so no need to re-download. The launcher, however, was downloading from the network, which is a big download. Overall, I’m new to PSO, and what I saw yesterday was enough to make me want to try again today. The interface looked quite old-fashioned and a bit slow, especially with mouse lag compared to what I’m used to. Graphics worked okay in some areas but the ship lobby often froze. I’ve heard that reducing the number of other players shown can help, as well as disabling certain video features. My system runs a 6700T with an 1070 processor—slow by today’s standards but should handle the game well. During yesterday’s play, CPU usage stayed under 50% when slowdowns occurred.
The challenges with needing repeated downloads remained on the original setup. I configured a gaming PC with a 7920X display, 64GB RAM, and an RTX2070. It might be too much power consumption? CPU activity stays low during gameplay, and GPU usage never exceeded 50%. The severe lag I experienced on the first system didn’t return. There are still minor stuttering moments when other players load, but the game now runs smoothly. I suspect storage issues on the alternative system. The Windows Store let me pick which drive to install updates on, so I used my second drive. I’m curious if a clash between the Store and Game clients triggered the failure after each use. I haven’t verified the new system is free of this issue, but I kept everything on the C drive this time. To note, I’m still enjoying the game. Progress is steady, though I’m not fully up to speed on the mechanics yet.
