I'm confused because I have two controllers with identical model numbers—one came with my PS3 and the other I bought later. Both display 3.7V DC at 300mA, and I strongly suspect Sony wouldn't upgrade the power specs later and alter the requirements.

I was just mentioning it seems low-quality or fake... maybe it's genuine, but it still looks much worse than what I own. For the price it offers, 610mAh sounds reasonable. It makes sense that Sony might change specs across versions, just like SSD makers use different controllers for the same model. Why pay extra for 300mA when a cheaper 500mA option exists?
