Provide guidance on building AdviceCase and gathering fan advice for new builds.
I'm preparing for my first build after a 12-year desktop use and am weighing two options: the NZXT H5 Flow and the Be Quiet Pure Base 500 DX. Both fit within the height limit of under 18.5". I've got a Ryzen 7 7700X, an Asus ROG Strix x670e-f, a Sapphire Nitro+ 7900XTX, and a Be Quiet Dark Power 13 1000w PDU. I also have storage and RAM ready, so the choice now is between these two. I'm considering space limits and future upgrades, so an AIO option might be useful later if needed. RGB isn't essential for me, but I want a solid case that supports these components well.
My main questions: which case should I choose and why? Are there other models I should consider? Should I go with the Be Quiet Silent Wings 4 or stick to the stock options? And what fan setup would be best for these builds?
Thanks!
Yes, definitely. Unless you're performing significant overclocking, it leads to very high temperatures.
For fan setups, typically only two intakes at the front and one or two exhausts on the top or back are required. I rarely use more than four fans.
more fans might not be essential but can assist in reducing RPMs overall, which in turn lowers the noise generated by all.
I prefer the NZXT option between these two.
It states it includes one 120mm rear exhaust and one 120mm bottom intake.
If I were to build this setup, I’d add two 140mm intakes at the front and possibly shift the bottom 120mm to the top as an exhaust.
In the Pure Base 500 DX, the included three front and one rear Light Wings are solid fans that come ready to go.
For this configuration, I’d likely add another 120mm at the top as exhaust—it’s impressive and moves a lot of air very quietly.
the nxt provides front-mounted 280mm and top-mounted 240mm options.
the be quiet! includes front-mounted 360mm and top-mounted 240mm models.
i don't prefer aio setups with intake, so i'd likely limit myself to a 240mm aio at most.
for the most powerful and premium choices currently available, 240mm often falls short in many cases.
however, using a high-end air cooler with top-quality fans should work well in nearly any scenario.
