Do you have any idea on how to share your thoughts with ASUS regarding their BIOS for the motherboard? I own a X570 Gaming E with the latest 2816 BIOS. I'm experiencing some unusual behavior with my M.2 Fan Header and BIOS settings. There are strange occurrences with the fan and temperature controls. I'm using a Noctua NF-F12 on the M.2 header, which is the only one it connects to, and another option exists on CHA2 or 3 depending on proximity. Whenever I power on the PC, it shuts off the fan completely—except when restarting. This happens consistently after updating to BIOS 2816. Additionally, in the BIOS, when adjusting the M.2 fan via Q-Fan or F6, changing the curve or graph seems to reset the temperature setting to 60 by default. The fan curve issue is minor, but the fan stopping every boot is quite bothersome. It feels like a copy-paste error when editing the BIOS code.
The issue isn't necessarily about using the M.2 fan header for the CPU fan. There could be several reasons why the fan isn't spinning, such as checking M.2 SSD temperatures to adjust fan speed or a potential BIOS problem. The best approach is to reach out to support for assistance, though they may suggest connecting the fans directly to the CPU fan port.
I don’t have the CPU fan on the M.2 fan port. I’ve got two case fans—one on CHA2 and another on the M.2 slot. The CHA2 port works fine. My main point is that the M.2 header seems to be behaving oddly.
It's designed specifically for an M.2 form factor, not a case fan. You could simply use a PWM splitter to finish the job.
I don't understand the distinction between a regular case fan (Noctua) and an M.2 fan. Yes, I'm switching to a splitter, but that's just a temporary solution. I went back to the 2812 setting and adjusted the fan preferences. It still works, but when I booted to Windows, the M.2 fan header turns off. I upgraded to 2816 and reconfigured the settings, but now only the CPU fan header is saved when I save BIOS or press F10. The other fan settings aren't being recalled. I might consider getting Argus Monitor if this continues.
