I don't rely on antivirus software. I frequently perform malware scans and have a firewall in place.

I've tried Norton and McAfee. If there are no viruses, they'll install a harmless fake virus on your system and then delete it, making it seem like you're downloading something from the app. For me, Malwarebytes is the top choice.

Somewhat outdated content—upgrade to 2015 for current protection. Windows Defender and Malware bytes.
