I own MS Security Essentials along with Windows 8. You can also get it for Windows Vista and 7, and it runs smoothly. Adding Malwarebytes is a smart move too. It’s not harmful to enable Windows Defender since it’s disabled by default in Windows 7/Vista.
It's interesting that Hitmanpro hasn't been discussed much. In my view, it stands out since it leverages the databases of many virus scanners.
