I just reinstalled my operating system today and everything is working perfectly with all my programs installed. I’m curious if there’s a way to back up the system so I could restore it later by booting from a disk or USB drive, or even set up a recovery partition for a future new PC to simplify the process.

I really enjoy Acronis True Image Home for duplicating drives. They once provided a free version. I’ll share a link if they still do. Edit: they no longer offer this, probably after their True Image Home 10 release (the one I own). Apparently some articles claimed it was taken down due to misuse of their generous offer (I was aware from using them at work). Disappointing. There are open-source options available if you prefer not to pay, but based on the newer software’s features, it could be worth considering if you have multiple drives to clone.

Create a Windows repair disk and a system image. You can also configure automatic backups using an additional HDD in your setup.
